Ok... So I've seen some crazy stuff since the last time I checked in. I spent 5 days in the Abel Tasman National Park, one of the most beautiful and prestine places I think I have been. We Kayaked in for the first 2 days, exploring the coast line and checking out the seal rookeries on the islands just off the coast. After the 2 day kayak we hiked in another two days and stayed in a hut, then took a water taxi back to civilization.
After the Able Tasman we drove the West Coast of the South Island down to Franz Joseph. The Lonely Planet booked reckoned it is one of the best drives in the world, definitely rivaled Big Sur for sure. The Franz Joseph glacier was an awesome place to visit. We booked the over priced, but definitely amazing glacier tour. We spent the entire day on the ice with our pompous British guide and 6 other people. We saw our first Kea. I took a ton of pictures of the first one only to realize later that they are every where and it was a waste of memory.
From Franz Joseph we drove to Wanaka to finally get some snowboarding in. We skied Treble Cone and Cardrona the first two days then drove to Queens town for the third day at the Remarkables (the name is very deceiving). The snow here is not living up to my fanatises I had back home in the states. The season is pretty shit so far unfortunetly... so my plans of Heli-boarding is now out the window.
We spent the next 2 days in Milford Sound. Words can even begin to describe how gorgeous this place was. Huge cascading waterfalls falling thousands of feet to the ocean, and snow covered mountain peaks, ever picture I took looked like it was a post card. From Milford we came back to Queens town to check out the weekend night life... ended just being super drunk and having a 4am Kebaab on the way home. Suasaged As!
I'll try to post some more pics of my adventures later.... for now this will have to do.
